Frequently Asked Questions
What is your approach with clients?
Being human is complex and messy. We are continually navigating conflicting desires, obligations, opportunities, and expectations. I believe that the best way to navigate the messiness and find clarity about your path is through a strong therapeutic relationship. The foundation of the therapeutic relationship that I build with you is based on authenticity, transparency, understanding without judgements, and honoring your capacity for growth. This deeply connected foundation allows us to excavate a multitude of life's complexities together and begin to unravel issues that keep you from feeling at peace within yourself.
As we progress, I integrate multiple modalities, therapeutic techniques, and theoretical models to meet the needs of each client. No two clients are alike or respond similarly to the same treatment. As such, each client can expect a multifaceted approach that respects their individual complexities and capacity for growth.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently accepting insurance with Aetna, BlueCross and BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare UHC | UBH, and Tricare Select. I also accept private pay clients.
What type of clients do you work with?
I work with adults across the lifespan, ages 18 and older. My clients have a broad variety of topics they would like to work on. Some of my specialty areas include life transitions across the lifespan, trauma and trauma responses, loss and grief, medical and psychiatric conditions, relationship challenges, and inner conflicts with the “self”.
What should I expect in sessions with you?
Therapy session are 50 minutes. The first session allows me to begin to understand who you are and why you are seeking therapy. In this first session we will begin to develop our therapeutic relationship, determine if we are a good fit for working together, discuss expectations, goals, and further details of my integrative approach personalized just for you.
As we continue, there may be times that I ask you to complete an exercise outside of the session. This is because your hard work in the session will need to be integrated into the rest of your life; taking what you have learned about yourself in session and implementing it into your life. This will help you see progress in therapy.
The most successful clients come to each session ready to engage in therapeutic work. This can be emotionally and mentally intensive, but that is the rewarding path towards personal growth.
Do you see clients in person or virtually?
I see clients Monday through Friday, in-person or online via video call or phone calls. Online and remote options may also be ideal for individuals with accessibility concerns or who live in more rural areas and find a drive into Augusta, GA incompatible with their schedule. If you are unsure about what method best suits your needs, please do not hesitate to contact me.
